About Coming to the Sound School

The Sound School is located on 30 secluded acres in Stone Ridge, New York in the Catskill Mountain Preserve. We are 2 hours from New York City, 80 minutes from Albany, and 20 minutes from Woodstock and Kingston. The Sound School features a large teaching room overlooking the Catskill Mountains and special grounds that include ponds, campfire area, a tree house, hot tub, Finnish Sauna house, pool, and two friendly llamas. Those choosing to stay on the grounds have a choice of in-house rooms, cabins, studio, tree house, and tenting.

On Ground Meals

Breakfast is self-serve and includes different cereals, fruits, breads, juices, and teas.
Lunch is catered and prices will vary based on the meal you choose.
Dinner is going out to great local restaurants ten to fifteen minutes away.

Evening Entertainment

Evening events are informal and may vary include hot tubing, sauna, swimming, campfire, home movies, or an evening concert.

1. We have two dormitory sleeping rooms in a private area overlooking the teaching room which hold two to three people each.
2. We have five cabins that sleep one to three people each. The cabins use a common shower, bathroom, and kitchen.
3. We have a loft studio with full bath and kitchen that sleeps two to four people
4. We have a tree house that sleeps one to two people which is back to nature.
5. We have grounds for tenting which use an in house bathroom and kitchen.
